Army Knowledge Online (AKO)--Leveraging the Intellectual Capital of America's Army....This site is hot off the press and loaded with information. For some time now, the Internet has been used as a key route for getting information "to the troops". Now, you can get the detailed data you've been looking for. When you first log on to this site, you'll have to establish an account. One quick note, all soldiers are required to have an account by 1 Oct 2001. You'll be required to submit your social security number, as well as name, email address, etc, but as long as you are using a browser that's capable of secure connections, your personal information is safe. They even include security updates for Internet Explorer4 and 5. One of the big benefits is that you'll have an email account that comes with 50 MB of space on the Army server. Your email address will be your.name@us.army.mil. All incoming emails are scanned automatically for viruses, so you won't have to worry about downloading a virus to your computer.....always a plus.....

Increasing use of "The Army Link" has necessitated the need for me to upgrade from a "free to maintain" website, to one that now requires monthly fees to the provider. This included an upgrade of available bandwidth so that visitors to the site can continue it's use without interruption. I also reserved the domain http://www.thearmylink.com which ensures users of this site will always be able to locate it easily. The links below are to sponsors I am affiliated with in an effort to offset some of the cost. I have tried to choose those which will be of interest to visitors of this site. Rest assured, I will continue to maintain "The Army Link" for years to come. Our soldiers are always worth the time and effort!.......
